The CHW Open Access Platform is the hub for all activities related to the Coastal Hazard Wheel system. It is operated as a public-private partnership involving a group of leading global knowledge institutions.
The platform aims to make all scientific background material and global coastal classification data available with open access to facilitate coastal decision-making and standardized coastal communication worldwide. The UNEP guide, the scientific background material and the Coastal Hazard Wheel graphics can be downloaded directly with open access. The global coastal classification data will become gradually available in high quality as various classification projects are implemented.
It is the hope that the Coastal Hazard Wheel will provide a universal and easily accessible tool for coastal managers, scientists and policy-makers to address the challenge of coastal climate change adaptation. We welcome contact from national stakeholders and as part of our activities, we implement national coastal classification, hazard management and standardized communication schemes on request.
For technical assistance related to design and implementation of complex hazard management measures we refer to UNEP-DHI and Deltares who possess highly specialized hydrological expertise. For technical assistance related to design and implementation of more commonly used hazard management measures we refer to our Resource partners.
